If you’re an electric car owner, you’ll be happy to hear that Google Maps has introduced new features specifically designed for your vehicle.
With Google-built-in cars, including models from Polestar, Chevrolet, Renault, Volvo, Honda, and soon Ford, you can plan your route and charging stops with ease.
Before you start navigating, Maps shows you the route with possible alternative roads highlighted in grey. You can select one of the alternative routes, and the app will update the estimated arrival time and distance accordingly. During the journey, Maps provides real-time updates on your route with a moving arrow.
The latest update also includes features for electric cars, such as planning charging stops for shorter trips. Maps can track your car’s battery status and suggest the best charging points along your route. Additionally, you can filter your search for charging points that support 150 kW or higher power.
Google Maps also displays whether a location has charging points available. For instance, if a supermarket has charging points, you can see it in the description. These features are incredibly helpful, especially when you’re traveling in unfamiliar areas.
